I guess it all started just like every other person’s passion for photography. You rent a camera, take some pictures and suddenly can´t stop shooting. In my case it was my father’s camera. We were at the Zoo Leipzig in Germany and my Dad took some random “tourist Pictures” of the zoo which you save for ever but never look at again. Unexpectedly one of the zoo keepers walked past us with a rope in his hands. At the other end of the rope was nothing less than a camel walking past me less than 10 meters distance. The enthusiastic younger version of myself took rapidly my fathers’ camera and started taking pictures of it, trying to capture this unique second. But this moment was soon shadowed by my fascination for the picture I took. I know my Dad must have a good camera but that the technology these days was so advanced to be able to shoot pictures in this high quality just took my breath.
Long story short I never really gave my Dad his camera back since then I fell in love with animal photography!
Since then I try to use every chance in my free time to visit places where I can take pictures of animals and work on my photography skills. Doesn´t matter if it is a small animals park, a huge zoo somewhere in Europe, the Serengeti in Africa or the coast of Norway. I am keen on connecting my love for travelling with my passion for animal photography.
Like that I already made some great experiences which I now would like to share. My idea is to give my readers an insight on the places I visit. The main focus will be on the European Zoos. So, after I visited a zoo or anything similar I´ll report in a blog post about my impression and give recommendations. At the same time, I will of course also upload my best pictures of the day here in the gallery and on my Instagram account.
Since I am a full-time student in Germany, spending a semester abroad in Norway and going for an internship to Spain I hope to visit as much zoos as possible and some other nice places for animal photography in the upcoming time. Additionally, I will also blog about my experience of doing a Safari in Africa or the Lofoten in Norway.
I really hope that you enjoy reading my blog and maybe also can benefit from my experiences.
